“It is never too late to be what you might have been.”
– George Eliot
Welcome to KMV Therapy and Consulting. I’m Kelsey McVey—a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Anxiety & OCD Specialist—and I’m so glad you’re here.
If you’ve been carrying the weight of anxiety, perfectionism, or the pressure to keep all the plates spinning, you know how exhausting it can feel. Maybe you’ve been told you’re “so strong” or that “you handle everything so well,” yet inside, you’re overwhelmed, burned out, and wondering how much longer you can keep this up. Anxiety has a way of taking over—impacting your relationships, your work, and your sense of self—leaving you stuck in a cycle of doing, pleasing, and pushing through.
But here’s the good news: therapy can help you break free from that cycle. With the right tools, support, and perspective, it’s absolutely possible to quiet the noise of anxiety, reconnect with yourself, and create a life that feels meaningful, balanced, and fully yours.
I bring extensive training in evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Prolonged Exposure. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and yes—often sprinkled with humor. I believe therapy should feel like a safe, non-judgmental space where you can be fully yourself while also finding fresh ways to navigate your struggles. Humor can lighten the weight of anxiety, giving you space to breathe and reclaim your power.
Together, we’ll explore what’s keeping you stuck, challenge the patterns that no longer serve you, and equip you with practical strategies to feel more grounded, confident, and connected.
You don’t have to keep carrying it all alone. This is your space to finally set it down, breathe, and begin moving toward a future that feels lighter, freer, and aligned with the life you truly want.

Therapeutic Style
My therapeutic style blends compassion, humor, and realism with evidence-based clinical training. I specialize in working with adults navigating perfectionism, burnout, rigidity, and imposter syndrome—individuals who often feel “stuck in their head” or weighed down by self-criticism. My approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), always tailored to each client’s values, environment, and goals.
Experience, Training, and The Therapy Room
I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). I integrate these evidence-based approaches in a flexible, personalized way—always tailoring therapy to reflect each client’s values, relationships, and environment. My work emphasizes both skill-building and the bigger picture, because lasting change comes from addressing the whole person, not just the symptoms.
With over a decade of experience in clinical social work and behavioral health, I understand what it means to perform under pressure and the toll it can take on your wellbeing. At Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, I provided intensive psychotherapy, built treatment programs for anxiety, and supported healthcare professionals on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. These experiences gave me a deep appreciation for the unique stressors that come with demanding roles and high-stakes environments.
I bring this perspective into therapy with clients who are navigating burnout, perfectionism, and the constant pressure to achieve. My approach helps you step out of survival mode, regain balance, and reconnect with yourself so that you can show up fully—not just in your career, but in your life.
